In Marrakech valleys there is the Mgoun Massif is in the heart of the High Atlas, a hidden gem, more remote and not as well known as the Toubkal area.
Our trek, starting in the stuuning Ait Bougemez valley follows a high circuit around the Central Atlas. The combination of the rugged high mountains and friendly welcome from the indigenous berbers whose traditional way of life has changed very little over time will leave you with unforgettable memories, an incredible experience.
Remote and wild it may well be, with fewer tourists than other trekking areas but the scenery is absolutely magnificent with abundant terracing, wide green fertile valleys, irrigation channels, walnut orchards, amazing coloured rock formations and fortified mud brick villages clinging to the sides of the mountains. The majestic and sacred Mgoun peak at 4068 metres towers above everything, the second highest peak in North Africa after Mount Toubkal at 4167 metres, An interesting mountain, some say one of Moroccos greatest walks/climbs.
