We will pick you up from the airport and take you to a riad (a traditional moroccan house) in the medina of Marrakech for your 1st nights stay befor begining our tour to mount toubkal .
To Tacheddirt. After breakfast we drive up through the stunning mountains to Imlil, the main trailhead for trekkers (1740m) via Asni . In Imlil you will meet the muleteers and once everything is loaded up onto their mules, our trek will commence along the valley and up to the Tizi N Tamatert Pass (2279m). We then descend down to the charming village of Ouaneskra ( 2200m) and continue for another 30 minutes or so until we reach Tacheddirt ( 2400m) where we will camp near the river. Approx 4hours walking. Ascent 560m.
To Azib Likemt. Today begins with a slow climb up to the Tizi Likemt Pass ( 3555m) from where we can enjoy our first incredible view of the Toubkal Massif. We then have a long descent down to the village of Azib Likemt (2200m) where we set up our overnight camp . Approx 5hours walking. Ascent 1255m/Descent 1355m.
To Amsouzert. Today is a long but much less challenging day taking in many different landscapes. From Tizi N Ououraine (3120m) we will enjoy more spectacular views of the Toubkal Massif, including both the summit ( 4167m) , the East face and the Ifni Dome ( 3876m). The trail continues on to Amsouzert (1700m), one of the most distinctive villages in the area where we will either camp or stay in a local simple gite. Approx 6hours walking. Ascent 1676m/ Descent 2176m.
To Ifni Lake. Today we go through several villages, west of Amouzert as we head towards the incredibly deep Ifni Lake, an unforgettable sight surrounded by rocky mountains. Arriving around lunchtime we will have a free afternoon to relax around the lake area and camp here overnight. Approx 4 hours walking. Ascent 600m.
To Nelther Refuge. By now we should have acclimatised to the altitude and feel ready to take on the hardest day of the trek. We start by climbing a steep scree trail and eventually reach the top of the Tizi N Ouanoums Pass (3664m), a narrow ledge between 2shafts of rock. From here it is a long zigzagging descent to the Nelther Refuge (3200m) where we camp overnight. Approx 6hours walking. Approx 6 hours walking. Ascent 1964m/Descent 464m.
Toubkal Summit. Today we set off early before dawn following a well trodden route up to the summit of Toubkal (4167m), the highest point in North Africa from where there are fantastic views of the entire Atlas range and the plains down to Marrakech. It usually takes 3-4hours to reach the summit. We then make our way back down to the Refuge and descend quite quickly to the village of Sidi Chamharouch,the site of a holy shrine and on to Aremd and along the Mizane River along a forested trail back to Imlil where we stay at Imlil Lodge. Apporox 9hours walking.
Today we go back to either Marrakech airport or hotel where the tour ends.
